Currently, only Rebels and GAR have access to Secret Mission. R2-D2 can be taken in both factions, and Padme Amidala can acquire Secret Mission by divulging Diplomatic Cover, her 3-pip command card. Secret Mission is equivalent to a Breakthrough mini-game: if your Secret Mission unit gets fully within the enemy deployment zone, that unit gains a victory token. If the Secret Mission unit survives, you earn that victory point at the end of the game. Currently, both factions get 1 point for completing this mission. Here are 4 ways to improve your chances of winning:
- Spread Out Deployments Are Best!
The more units coming in from your opponent's side of the board means there's more chance you'll be able to complete a secret mission. Even though it takes at least 3 units to fully enter their deployment zone (and 5 total units for them), spreading out deployments is still an advantage.
- Bid To Get The Right Board Edge, Deployment, And Objective
A higher bid means you're more likely to go first and deploy in a position that supports your secret mission units. It is especially useful if you have two secret mission units and want them deployed on opposite sides of the board so that no matter which your opponent tries to cover, one will be left free for completing its mission.
- Deploy Your Secret Mission Units Late
If you need to wait for some reason (e.g., waiting for a unit in another sector), ensure that they enter enemy territory at the last possible moment, so there's less chance for opponents' units or objectives to block it off.
- Use Threats To Cover Your Secret Mission Unit
This is another reason why spreading out deployments is useful. If your opponent has to cover multiple fronts, they simply won't have enough units to disrupt all of your Secret Mission units. A few special notes about this rule are also worth mentioning. First, there are the Force User restrictions on using this rule. Force Users are not considered activated if they enter the enemy deployment zone using a secret mission token, so you can't use Jedi Mind Trick or Battle Meditation during your next activation after completing a secret mission. The other restriction involves objective tokens. Only two objective tokens may exist at any one time in either player's deployment zone - if you complete a secret mission while being within an objective token area, that token must be removed before you can deploy a new one in that area.
